He’s Going DynoMax….ARE YOU?

Enthusiasts Switch to DynoMax During Weekend Event,
New Talent Added to the Winner’s Circle & 2007 Champions Return to Lead Spots

Summit Racing Equipment Super Store Event
May 3-4, 2008

McDonough Winners

It was an exciting weekend down in McDonough, Ga., at the Summit Racing Equipment Super Store Event during the DynoMax Power to the Wheels event.

We welcomed 2007 Power to the Wheels Champion Brian Anderson and third-place winner Darren Tedder back to the dyno…dyno’d nearly 60 vehicles…and proved the power of DynoMax Performance Exhaust! You just can’t beat that!

We had several enthusiasts who were eager to find out just how much power a DynoMax muffler would add to their vehicle – like Allen Arceneaux who was a strong customer of another exhaust company until this past weekend. He took his GTO up on the dyno, went into Summit and picked up some new DynoMax mufflers and plans to install our products. We can’t wait to see if he makes it to another DynoMax event – just to see how much more power he’ll have! Check out his ride…

And the enthusiasm didn’t stop there.

How many car enthusiasts dream about pulling their car into the Summit Racing Equipment Showroom? Thousands. DynoMax Power to the Wheels Champion Brian Anderson was added to those esteemed ranks this past weekend when he was able to store his car inside the Summit showroom.

And his performance didn’t disappoint Saturday or Sunday…he posted 1467 horsepower in the power-adder class in his 1964 Rambler Classic on Sunday to help his efforts to return to the Championship Shootout. Of course, Anderson is still running the DynoMax Bullet mufflers.

Saturday’s competition was dominated by returning third-place champion Darren Tedder in his 1971 Plymouth Cuda…he rolled up on the dyno and blew the crowd away when he posted 900.21 horsepower with his Ultra Flo Welded mufflers. A strong all-motor post in hopes of returning to the Shootout!

We also were pretty excited to welcome two new members to the Winner’s Circle – Jay Price and his 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle and David White and his 1994 Ford Mustang.

Jay Price took first place on Sunday in the All-Motor class when his Chevelle hit 417.32 horsepower. Price runs Thrush Turbos – we’re sure you’ll recognize the classic Woodpecker brand!

David White followed him closely in Sunday’s All-Motor competition. White’s 1994 Ford Mustang posted 274.08 horsepower with his Thrush Turbo mufflers.

We’d like to send out a thank you to the entire group of competitors and spectators who came out to our event in McDonough – we hope to see you again in this year’s second annual Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour!

It’s a New Season for Power to the Wheels

Mopars at the Strip
Las Vegas, Nev.
3/28/08 - 3/29/08
Winner's Circle qualifiers from Mopars at the Strip

Over 15 Cars Dyno’d, Three Qualify for Winner’s Circle

Our first event of ’08 was the Mopars at the Strip competition at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And what an event it was. We faced some interesting weather conditions, but encountered some awesome cars (and trucks!) and heard some amazing stories.

We recognized Ken Muckey on Friday when he drove up in his ’72 Plymouth Duster. He rebuilt the engine in the off season and was eager to see how he would compare to last year’s dyno run. He jumped up 30 horsepower and posted 377.75 with his DynoMax Super Turbos.

On Saturday, we heard an amazing story from first-place winner, Jim LaRoy, about his ’71 Plymouth Roadrunner. Jim also competed last year at our Reno, Nev., event and we were happy to see him return…and Jim was happy to be able to compete!

You see, Jim had both of his sons with him, Cody and Tay. They were returning from Westech Performance Group, Mira Loma, Ca., where they tested the car on a chassis dyno (posted 554 in Mira Loma!!) earlier in the week. After that, the family headed out to Mopars at the Strip to run on the drag strip Friday. They ran 116.88 mph…and blew the #1 cylinder exhaust port into the water jacket on the cylinderhead. But Jim’s sons were too far from home to just throw in the towel and say they had enough before they even had a chance to compete in the DynoMax Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour competition on Saturday. They pulled the cylinderheads off of a smaller 383 engine they had stored in their truck and put them on the ’71 Roadrunner 452 engine. Early on Saturday morning, the LaRoy boys posted 510.86 horsepower.

You see, that’s not even the full story.

In 2004, Cody read a story in the December 1982 issue of Popular Hot Rodding about his Grandpa. Jim’s father was a serious gearhead – and had built an engine that was featured in PHR. Cody read the article and started tinkering around his grandfather’s flowbench. In 2005, they took the Roadrunner to Mopars at the Strip, and then blew the clutch during its first dragstrip pass. In 2006, they reworked the engine a little and won that year’s Mopars Dyno event with 474 horsepower. Last year, you saw what Cody and his father pulled at the Reno event – 529 horsepower. We can’t wait to see what happens in ’09…or if they decide to see us again later this year on the tour. Make sure you check back here to see the 1982 article. Jim’s mother is working hard to scan it for us to post here!

Jim was followed by Dave Foreman and his 2005 Dodge Ram. He posted 286.54 horsepower with his DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers. Dave was very appreciative of my dyno team – thanks! We hope to see you at another DynoMax event real soon!

We expect to see all of you at a DynoMax event soon!

If you have any questions, feel free to post them, or if you’re interested in one of these vehicles – we’ll be happy to help you touch base with one of the contestants!

See you in Georgia this May!

Power to the Wheels is Back for 2008!

Get Ready for the 2008 Power To The Wheels Dyno Tour!

The DynoMax “Power to the Wheels” Dyno Tour is back for its second year of competition, testing horsepower and torque.  Last year, competitors flexed their muscle cars and made horsepower history in the first-ever national dyno competition.

DynoMax is excited to see what competitors in the brand new All-Motor and Power-Adder classes will bring to the dyno in 2008. From some of the rumors we’ve heard, 2008 is going to be even more exciting…and making even more horsepower history!

Daily first- and second-place winners are eligible to be chosen to compete in the Championship Shootout. First place daily winners for each class get $50 and a plaque; second place daily winners in each class get a plaque. But it’s not just about that daily win…it’s all about who has the top horsepower running DynoMax products and who graduates to compete in the Championship Shootout.

This year’s shootout will take place at Street Machine Nationals, Springfield, Mo., in September. To win, competitors must use DynoMax or Thrush exhaust systems or mufflers.

Other Straight from the Dyno News: DynoMax Parts Help Build a Classic

1965 Cobra

Donations from DynoMax helped give Piedmont Technical College’s Automotive Technology students a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a 1965 Cobra replica from scratch.

DynoMax contributed Cyclone Ceramic Coated Headers to the project. The headers feature mandrel bent tubes for up to 35-percent better flow than stock, serrated bent tubes and are precision-machined for leak-free seals. The ceramic coating allows the header to withstand temperatures up to 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit.  These headers reduce engine compartment temperatures providing excellent performance.

The bright yellow Cobra replica can’t help but turn heads.  It took first place sports car in its debut car show, the Greenwood, South Carolina’s Fourth of July Auto Show in 2007.

Since hitting the road, the Cobra also drove home with awards at the following South Carolina events, ranging from Judge’s Favorite to Best in Show: Classic Truck and Auto Show, Freedom Hope Festival, Annual Jubilee and the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival.

The 1965 Cobra replica was built by the top 20 percent of first and second year students at Piedmont Tech’s Automotive Technology School.  It was funded by the PTC Foundation with help from automotive sponsors such as DynoMax.  After touring South Carolina the Cobra will be sold and all proceeds will return to the PTC Foundation.
